The AFC Champions League has reached the knockout stages with 3 of the 4 K League sides still involved. Jeonbuk Hyundai travel to Thai Premier League side Buriram United. Whilst Ulsan Hyundai host fellow K League 1 side Suwon Bluewings in an all Korea clash. Here are details on the round of 16 1st legs of the ACL2018;
Reminder that this season I’m taking a long streamlined approach to the ACL due to other commitments and therefore focuses just on Predictions, and only for games including K League sides. However I’ll take and like previews for other sites when possible.
AFC Champions League Round of 16 2nd Leg – Fixtures & Predictions
Jeonbuk Hyundai 2 – 1 Buriram United
Tuesday May 15th 2018 – 1st Leg Buriram up 3-2
I see Jeonbuk bouncing back from the 1st leg defeat and a 3-0 defeat in the K League at the weekend to narrowly progress on away goals. Jeonbuk were depleted in the 1st leg and only named 3 subs, but they rested players at the weekend and should come into this one much stronger. Buriram will give them a game, however Jeonbuk might prove too strong in the end.
Suwon Bluewings 1 – 1 Ulsan Hyundai
Wednesday May 16th 2018 – 1st Leg Ulsan up 1-0
I see this ending in a draw, the 1st leg was really tight as were their league games in recent seasons. A draw will mean that Ulsan progress, however Suwon won’t just roll over. I see Ulsan scoring the opening goal and giving Suwon a mountain to climb. This will be a slow and technical game.
