The 2018 World Cup has reached the Quarter Final stage with big names such as Argentina, Spain and Portugal in falling in the previous round. All 4 games look very interesting on paper, with Belgium vs. Brazil maybe the standout tie, along with Sweden vs. England.

Predictions World Cup 2018 Quarter Finals (July 6th-8th)

Uruguay 1 – 2 France

Quarter Final – Friday 11pm (Korea Time)

The first quarter final is between two former winners, Uruguay and France. Uruguay topped Group A with a perfect 3 and 0 record, and didn’t concede a goal. They then beat Portugal in the round of 16 2-1. France also topped their group winning 2 and drawing their final game against Denmark. They beat Argentina in the round of 16 4-3 in certainly the game of the tournament so far.
I see this being a close and competitive game with France coming out on top, but it could go to extra time.

Belgium 2 – 4 Brazil

Quarter Final – Saturday 3am (Korea Time)

The second Quarter Final is between Belgium and South American giants Brazil. Belgium topped Group G with 3 wins from 3, including a 1-0 win over hotly tipped England. They beat Japan in the round 16, coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2. Brazil also won their group drawing 1 and winning their other 2 games. They eased past Mexico in the round of 16 the only team to win by more than a single goal.
I see this being a close game, with Brazil moving onto the Semi Finals. It could either rain goal, or be deciced by just one. I’m siding with a goal fest.

Sweden 1 – 2 England

Quarter Final – Saturday 11pm (Korea Time)

The third Quarter Final is between European nations Sweden and England. Sweden surprised everyone topping group F ahead of Mexico, South Korea and previous winners Germany. They beat Switzerland in the round of 16 to keep their World Cup dream alive. England finished second in group G behind Belgium, beating Tunisia and Panama in their other games. They overcame Colombia in the round of 16 via a dramatic penalty shootout.
Overall England should have the edge, but Sweden will score at least once. In the end in may come down to a moment of magic from Harry Kane.

Russia 2 – 3 Croatia

Quarter Final – Sunday 3am (Korea Time)

The final Quarter Final game, hosts Russia take on surprise package Croatia. Russia finished behind Uruguay in group A, but looked strong in all 3 of their games. They shocked 2010 champions Spain on penalties to progress to this stage. Croatia finished top of their group ahead of Argentina, winning all 3 of their group games. They found the round of 16 tough, narrowly beating Denmark on penalties.
Overall this could go either way, but I feel that Croatia have shown more to lead me to believe they have the edge. I’m hoping for a fair number of goals in this one as well.
