South Korea vs. Australia – Preview + Prediction

Australia vs. South Korea
International Friendly
Saturday October 17th – 5.50pm Kick Off (Korea Time)

The first of the two upcoming friendlies for South Korea is against defending AFC Asian Cup Champions Australia. Australia did pretty well at the world cup during the summer but could get past the group stage. They beat Kuwait 4-0 last month, but Korea will be a bigger test. South Korea are without a few big name players who aren’t making the trip from Europe (Ki Sung-yueng and Son Heung-Min being the obvious ones), however Australia have a strong squad for this home friendly which could be a key factor.
Personally although I feel it will be close, I don’t see South Korea being able to beat a basically full strength Australia as they are missing too many key players. So in the end I see the home fans coming out the happier.

Prediction: Australia 2-1 South Korea

Uzbekistan vs. South Korea – Preview + Prediction

Uzbekistan vs. South Korea
International Friendly
Tuesday November 20th – 7pm Kick Off (Korea Time)

Of course this game maybe slightly affected by the previous games with Korea playing Australia and Uzbekistan having a friendly against Lebanon. But overall I don’t see that being so much of a factor, as the squads will be rotated. This maybe the slightly easier of the two games and Korea might ring the changes a little and play a few fringe players and maybe hand a few youngsters debuts. Uzbekistan won a couple of recent friendlies against North Korea and Qatar, so they won’t be an easy task, but Korea should have enough to power past them.

Overall I see plenty of goals with both sides trying to impress and the fringe players making a case to be including in the Asian Cup squads. In the end however Korea will come out on top.

Prediction: Uzbekistan 2-3 South Korea
