Turkmenistan vs. South Korea – World Cup Qualifier

When; Tuesday September 10th 2019, 11pm (Korea Time) / 7pm (Local Time)
Where; Köpetdag Stadium, Ashgabat
Who; Turkmenistan vs. South Korea

South Korea begin their 2022 World Cup Qualifying campaign with a trip to central Asia to face Turkmenistan. South Korea will be traveling in from Turkey where they played Georgia in a friendly last week, so shouldn’t have any jet-leg or travel issues. Turkmenistan won their opening qualifier beating Sri Lanka 2-0, so will be buoyed by that result.
Overall South Korea will be a clear and big favorites to ease to victory here and honestly I can’t see why they won’t. Playing away from home isn’t easy and Turkmenistan will play deep and defensive, but in the end I see Korea completely a nice opening win by three or four goals.

Watch out for; South Korean big names Son Heung-Min and Hwang Ui-jo will be the dangermen for Korea. Hwang scored twice against Georgia just last week. For Turkmenistan look out for experienced midfielder Arslanmyrat Amanow, he scored against Sri Lanka last time out and plays at a solid level over in Uzbekistan.

Head-to-Head; These nations have played twice before with both games being 2010 World Cup Qualifiers taking place in 2008. Korea were winners in both games, winning 3-1 away and 4-0 at home.
South Korea 2
Draws 0
Turkmenistan 0

Prediction: Turkmenistan 0-3 South Korea
