Following news from earlier in the week that the KBO Baseball League will begin on May 5th 2020 (aka Children’s Day) (MORE HERE). The Football (Soccer) League better know as the K League, confirmed it will also begin, with the first match on Friday May 8th. Similar to the KBO Baseball League the K League will also start with games being played behind closed door (no fans) for the foreseeable future. Games will however be broadcast live on TV as normal.
The first game of the 2020 season will be on Friday evening May 8th, and between defending champions Jeonbuk Hyundai and 2019 FA Cup winners Suwon Bluewings. It was also confirmed that the league season will be reduced to 27 games (down from the normal 38), with the bottom side plus Sangju Sangmu automatically relegated.
It should be noted that if sadly cases do increase again that the K League and other sports in South Korea will be delayed once again.
